Week 5 Transfer 9, aka most boring header ever

Hello Loved Ones,

Today was, well, another week that flew by! But as it flew by I was able to capture some beautiful moments and record in my heart some expereinces to never forget. Once again, I love my mission.

Jayson was baptized on Saturday! So so happy! He´s going to be a great missionary someday! We cant wait. Also, we have started teaching his family as well! Please pray for them, they need lots of love and we need all the blessings we can get!

Danny (my first convert in this area), Jayson (best future missionary ever), and Augustine (Hermana Costagliola´s first convert in the mission field!
I love them all so much! So wonderful and such great spirits.

Hermana Costagliola and I still love each other. Thankfully she is not quite sick of me yet. We had a great little chat the other night and we learned a lot about the importance of communication and understanding one another. Let me tell ya, learning lotssss over here. She´s a gem, though.

We have AT LEAST two more weeks together and then we´ll see if the Lord keeps us both here in my area or sends me away to find some other sweet souls far far from Madrid for my last few months...maybe I´ll get to see a little country side in the North or maybe I´ll get to soak up a little Canary sun in the Islands :)

Stay tuned...

For now, Hermana Costa and I are excited for another great week and to work hard to the end of this transfer. We´ve been seeing miracles and we cant wait to see what more the Lord has in store for His children here.

All is well. Love you all! Cant wait to skype in a couple of weeks!! I´ll know more information about that next week.

Besitos!

xoxo

It's a beautiful day, even though it's dark out there

Good Morning loved ones!

So, this week I was STRUGGLING for energy. Every morning this peppy little song goes off and every morning I want to just smash the alarm clock and sleep for dayyyssss.

But of course I dont. Instead I roll over, kneel down, and whisper a sleepy prayer to someone who has way more strength than I do.

Then, Hermana Costagliola and I throw on some running shoes and go out to enjoy a little fresh air and wake up the Elders in our district. We took a little initiative and started a running club. The Elders may or may not hate us now, but they´ll thank us someday :)

Although I have been sooo beyond tired, each and every day is so worth it! We´ve been so blessed and we´ve been able to witness the Lord´s hand in this work of His. We have thee most amazing investigators and theee best recent converts! I have really come to love this area and I´ll be sad to be leaving soon. But before I go, we still have a lot of work to do. This weekend we have two baptisms planned and I am super excited! One of them is Hermana Costagliola´s VERY first contact in the mission field. It was her first night and Jayson was the first person we stopped and talked to on the street. And now? He´s getting baptized! It´s been such an amazing experience to see his testimony grow and to see him change so dramatically. Yesterday we recieved the sweetest message of him telling us how happy he is that we found him and gave him a chance to change his life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He told us that he is so thankful for the church, all of the people he has met and for the peace that has entered into his life. He´s been one of our beatiful miracles and a testimony to us of how much the Lord loves and watches over His sheep.

All is well and I´m so happy. As always.

Thought of the week:

The other day during my morning studies I found this quote that seemed to be written just for me and my sleepy self! The alarm clock and I are still not even close to being besties, however, Mr. Edison did help me change my perspective a little bit :)

"You can often guage a man´s ambition by whether he hates his alarm clock or considers it his best friend."
- Thomas Edison

I love you all! I hope everyone enjoyed Easter Sunday. If you haven´t had the chance to watch this video, you can now! A friend of mine sent it to me and it´s one of the most beautiful and inspiring videos I have seen. So wonderful. So Powerful. The church is true.

Feel free to watch it a hundred times over. The sweet tears and heartwarming feeling still come every time.

Love,

Hermana Scheu

p.s. Just in case you were wondering how fast 18 months go...

And yes, my little italian of a companion is the lovelies thing you´ve ever seen.

A week's update in photos

Our favorite family. We love them so much! Santiago (little boy in the back) is 7 years old and loves the Book of Mormon more than me. He´s the best! He says he wants to grow up and be like Nephi. Such a stud.
Oh, and Victoria (the sleeping beauty) that is exactly how I feel/look at 11:30pm EVERY DAY.

Birthday boys! Reinere (recent convert) and Alexander (future missionary). Reinere´s girlfriend, Ineibis, is the sweet girl who just got baptized this past month. They are so excited to get married soon and have a goal to get sealed in the temple this next year. They are theee best!
p.s. Heims this one is for you!

Sweet family in our ward. One of these little girls ran up to me yesterday and whispered in my ear, "Quiero una photo contigo." haha They love the sister missionaries.
We just started teaching the mother of Rocio (right) and we are so excited to see her progress!

We started collecting photos with Accordian players to send to President Jackson.
We´ve started a trend among all the missionaries.
Let the search begin!
p.s. Mom, I love my missionary water bottle.

Wanna know what 4 hours of morning studies looks like for me?
I love being a missionary!

This is a close up of one of the masterpieces hanging above my study desk. It´s from one of
my recent converts Javier!
I told him that my favorite animal was a lion forever ago and he gave me this
beautiful piece of art this last week.
 I´m in loveeeee.

Besos!!! Love you all

Here Comes the Sunnn

Hi Family,

Two words: Conferece Weekend.

Conference on the mission is better than Chirstmas and now it´s come and gone. But hey, we are left with some serious spiritual strength and desires to be better. Better moms, dads, brothers, sisters, friends, missionaries, and disciples of Christ. Oh, how I am so thankful for the Lord´s church and His leaders.

Hermana Costagliola and I really loved these past few days. Our investigators came to some of the sessions, I was able to see some members and recent converts from my previous ward, and I of course, recieved the spiritual recharge that I have been needing. Once again, so many blessings!

We also had the opportunity to have a temple tour with one of our investigators after last night´s session. His name is Jefferson and he was a reference from some other missionaries. We had a lesson with him a couple weeks ago, gave him a Book of Mormon, invited him to read and pray, and testified of the restoration of the Lord´s church. We weren´t able to see him this last week and we weren´t really expecting him to come to conference. He´s young, really smart, and always has a lot of questions. We also kind of got the feeling that his wife isn´t too excited about him learning about the church. However, as we all know, the Lord´s plan is perfect and He knows exactly what He´s doing.

Jefferson called us about an hour into the session and told us that he was waiting outside. We were stoked! We quickly went to go get him and sat with him for the last hour or so. Well, he loved it. Afterwards he told us that he had some questions and we invited a couple members (my favorite recent converts from my last area) to accompany us in a lesson with him. We explained more about the temple, families, and answered a few of his questions. I always love teaching because most of the time it´s almost impossible not to feel the spirit. However, there are times when the spirit completely just takes over and before you know it miracles just start happening.

After the lesson we asked him if he has read the Book of Mormon and how he liked it. He had read all of 1 Nephi and he´s in the middle of 2 Nephi. He said that he loves reading it because he finds answers to his questions and doubts that have come from reading the Bible. He told us that the Book of Mormon gives him answers to the small and simple truths that he has been looking for. He also told us that he´s got a lot of investigation still to do, but as missionaries we recieved a witness that the Spirit is working on his heart. Oh, how I love this work.

I know the Book of Mormon is true and I am so grateful for such a wonderful and edifying weekend! How blessed are we?

Also, mom asked me what I specifically liked about conference. I too wrote down some questions to listen for during conference and I recieved personal revelation for each one of them. One of them had to do with my family and I love what I learned! I love you all so much! Thank you for all your love and support.

Have a great week!

Love,

Hermana Scheu

p.s. one of my favorite talks from this weekend was Elder Uchtdorf´s on gratitude

Hermana Pavez (lovely, little cupcake), Hermana Hone (Lacy´s cousin!), Hermana Costagliola (beauitful italian), me (I promise my eyes are open, they´re just not quite used to SO MUCH SUN), Carlos (recent convert), Francisco (investigator who makes us yummy food and drops it off at our doorstep. Hollaaa)

My super cool companion. Also, just a little walk through H&M. As missionaries we´ve gotten reallly good at window shopping and pretending like we remember how to be fashionable.

Yet another Burger King/McDonalds picture. Dont worry, my stance on them both still remains the same.

(Notice the sack lunch that Hermana Costagliola and I brought.)
However, they do serve as great meeting places and come with sweet memorabilia.
